What to Expect at a Mom & Baby Yoga Class

Bringing a baby into the world is a wild, beautiful journey — and it’s one that deserves space, support, and gentle care. Mom & Baby Yoga is exactly that: a chance to move, breathe, and reconnect with your body while bonding with your baby and meeting other moms in the same season.

I created these classes because as a new mom myself, I found it was hard to make it to a yoga class. I don’t have childcare, and a traditional studio doesn’t allow for babies. So, I wanted a class where your baby is welcome with you!

If you're curious but not sure what to expect, here’s a little peek inside class:

💛 Who Is This Class For?

These classes are designed for moms who are at least 6 weeks postpartum (or cleared by their care provider) and babies who are pre-crawling or early movers.

No yoga experience needed! Whether you practiced daily before birth or you're brand-new to yoga, this space is for you.

🧺 What Class Looks Like

Every class is a little different, but here’s the general flow:

  • We start with breath and grounding, checking in with ourselves — baby in arms or lying nearby.

  • Gentle yoga for YOU: Think deep core repair, shoulder relief, hip openers, and movements to support your postpartum body. If you’re newly postpartum, I have special movement that is gentle for your healing body, and if you’re later on your journey, some great exercises for stiff muscles from carrying and lifting baby.

  • Baby bonding moments are sprinkled throughout — from baby massage to songs to movements that include or engage your little one.

  • Breaks are totally welcome — feed, change, rock, or just sit and breathe. You are never “disrupting” class. You’re welcome to step outside, but you can do anything you need to in the room.

  • We close with a moment of rest, either lying down with your baby on your chest or simply breathing together.

🧘‍♀️ What to Bring

You don’t need a lot! Just bring:

  • A yoga mat

  • A small blanket or towel for your baby to lie on if pre-crawling.

  • Your diaper bag with the usual supplies

  • A water bottle

  • And a whole lot of grace — because no one shows up to this class perfect, and that’s the point

🌿 What You’ll Walk Away With

Besides a looser back and a calmer breath, you’ll leave with:

  • Tools for postpartum recovery

  • Bonding moments with your baby

  • New connections with moms in your community

  • A reminder that you’re not alone in this season

❓Common Questions

“What if my baby cries the whole time?”
Totally okay! Babies cry, nurse, wiggle, and nap — that’s part of the class. You’re free to tend to your baby at any time.

“Can I feed/change/soothe my baby?”
Absolutely. All of it is welcome.

“I feel weak and unsure about movement.” or “Is it too early for me?”
That’s why we’re here. The class is built to rebuild slowly and safely — always honoring your body where it is. Based on my postnatal certification, I will help you find movement appropriate for your recovery stage.

“Can I come with twins?”
Yes! It might be a little extra wiggly, but you’ll be supported every step.

🌸 Come As You Are

You don’t have to “have it together” to join. In fact, this class is designed because none of us really do. It’s a space where spit-up, tired eyes, and half-packed diaper bags are all part of the practice.

Come as you are — we’ll breathe, move, and figure it out together.
